Bike Parking Audit 2022

Best in class ★★★★★

The bike stands at the Co-op are good. They are sturdy, close to the entrance and easily accommodate locking solutions. Spaces may be limited, but there’s another hoop (used to protect the pavement?) on the corner.  People use this facility, there are often bikes when I visit 💚

Worth a mention ★★★☆☆

There is plenty of parking at the university, but insufficient undercover and students may not find a space in the rain. Active mobility needs the best encouragement.

There’s also covered parking at Holywell school. It’s just inside the gates, maybe not the best place for it?

Opportunity ★☆☆☆☆

The new community centre is “perplexing”.

I wonder how long that half finished bike cover will remain like that? The structure is firmly bolted to the ground and will take a lock. Those railings though – useful!

Besides the Co-op our local shops are missing out. Even the the cafe formerly “Osos”, now “Fill Your Cup”, which cyclists frequent, creates a bit if a problem for peddling customers.

Space is limited everywhere, bikes use less of it than cars 🤷🏻‍♂️

Finally we have parking at the park, time for an upgrade perhaps?

If you think I missed any super bike parking in Cranfield,
please let me know ✅
